유엔해양법협약 제2부속서 제3조(제3조)
이 조문은 유엔해양법협약(UNCLOS) 부속서 2 대륙붕한계위원회에 속합니다. 대한민국은 1996년 1월 29일 UNCLOS를 비준했습니다.
1. 위원회의 임무는 다음과 같다.
(a) 대륙붕의 바깥한계가 200해리 밖으로 확장되는 지역에 있어서의 대륙붕의바깥한계에 관하여 연안국이 제출한 자료를 검토하고, 제76조와 1980년 8월 29일 제 3 차 국제연합해양법회의에서 채택된 양해선언에 따라 권고를 행한다.
(b) (a) 에 언급된 자료를 준비하는 동안 관계연안국이 요청하는 경우 과학적, 기술적 조언을 제공한다.
2. 위원회는 필요하고 유용하다고 고려하는 범위내에서 위원회의 책임을 수행하는데 도움이 될 과학기술정보를 교환하기 위하여 국제연합교육과학문화기구의 정부간해양과학위원회, 국제수로기구 및 그 밖의 권한있는 국제기구와 협력한다.
1. The functions of the Commission shall be:
(a) to consider the data and other material submitted by coastal States concerning the outer limits of the continental shelf in areas where those limits extend beyond 200 nautical miles, and to make recommendations in accordance with article 76 and the Statement of Understanding adopted on 29 August 1980 by the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea;
(b) to provide scientific and technical advice, if requested by the coastal State concerned during the preparation of the data referred to in subparagraph (a).
2. The Commission may cooperate, to the extent considered necessary and useful, with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, the International Hydrographic Organization and other competent international organizations with a view to exchanging scientific and technical information which might be of assistance in discharging the Commission's responsibilities.
